A Half Hour in My Day

Today it was beautiful in the Lemon - low 70s; I was jazzed to take a nice work break to walk with my pooch.
The walk started out with two dead birds in our path that looked like they'd been attacked by something...
Eeek!
We walk around them.
And then continuing our walk a pit bull gets out of his/her gate and flies toward us. I put myself in it's path. If it is going to attack, I would rather me be attacked than Hennessy. And note here please, I am NOT breed prejudice, but the fact is this particular dog is a pit bull. He/She does get out of the yard often - today the gate was left open so it was an easy escape. I fall to the ground. The dog growls at Hennessy and me. I tell the dog sternly to stay. A guy in a car across the street yells to the dog in an even sterner manner. The dog continues to growl but listens to the guy. Hennessy and I continue to walk down the road. I brush the dirt off myself, check Hennessy, and yell 'thank you' to the guy in the car.
Again... continuing our walk.
Then a woman starts jabbering to me. I politely tell her I am on my peaceful walk time with my dog and do not care to talk with her. She continues to jabber. I more sternly ask her to leave me alone. She the starts yelling at me that the pavement is too hot for Hennessy's feet. Are you kidding me? It is barely 70 degrees. She crosses the street coming towards us yelling at me. As Hennessy and I hustle up the road she gets in her truck and drives after me - continuing to yell at me out her window following us. I wish I got her license plate number. I would have called the authorities about her insanity and harassment. And don't even get me started on the fact that someone obviously this mentally unbalanced is behind the wheel of a car!
And then to top off the half hour walk that was supposed to be fun and relaxing.....
I get to the park where I see a car right in front of the dogs must be on leash and no smoking signs. The guy in the car lets his little white dog fly out of the car with no leash on. It trots on over to the park. He yells after it to wait for him. And then as he gets out of his car as he lights up a cigarette. Wow! Not only is his dog off leash; he is smoking in the park - two citations!!!!
Again - Wow!
This is the town I live in??
VERY scary half hour of my day.
And very sad.
All the Lemon may have going for it right now is that it did have the best climate on earth - at least today...

Living Oola

On Friday night I attended a book signing at the prestigious Warwick's book store in La Jolla. Due to the nature of my work, I rarely attend events, conferences, etc. However, this one called out to me. I learned about Oola, Dave Braun, and Troy Amdahl through my work as an Independent Distributor with Young Living Essential Oils.
Oola is "that state of awesomeness you experience when your life is balanced and growing in all key areas of health and well-being". There are 7 key areas: fitness, faith, family, field, finance, friends, and fun. And right now I am not balanced in any of those. I actually started to tear up twice as Troy was speaking. Me who works with speakers and authors 24/7 never tears up when at these things - but yup, I teared up. My life is challenging right now. And hearing Troy and Dave speak so authentically and passionately about their work and new book, "Oola for Women: How to Balance the 7 Key Areas of Life to Have Less Stress, More Purpose, and Reveal the Greatness within You", shook me up.
I have started to read the book. And will keep everyone in the loop on how I am doing. Meeting these guys gave me hope - hope I haven't felt in a while.
I have begun the journey to my Oola Life!

Happy Places

Honestly - things have been a challenging lately. And perhaps I'll share more in future blog posts about that stuff. But for now... focusing on the positive. When the day feels blah - I go to one of my happy places for a pick me up - Starbucks. The pictures above - Hennessy enjoying her beverage; middle picture - cup written on by Ashley when my husband went to get my breakfast yesterday; and the bottom picture is from today enjoying snack time outside - cup by Cynthia. Thank you, Starbucks - especially the wonderful employees at my local store for bringing me lots of smiles!
One of my other happy places - LA Kings games - the 2017/18 schedule was announced today which means we are one step closer to the start of the new season: https://www.nhl.com/kings/news/la-kings-announce-82-game-2017-18-regular-season-schedule/c-290065276

Working Out... Despite the Heat

It's no secret - I love to workout.
I always have ever since I was a very young kid. I remember working out as far back as in the 70s (so that would be before 7 years old) to my mom's aerobics records (yes... I said records). They had all these pictures of how to do the moves on the in-sleeve!
Here in Lemon Grove they are offering FREE Zumba classes three times a week (Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 6 - 7 pm) over the summer months at Berry Street Park so heck yes, I will be partaking in those. Despite the heat today, I was out there getting my Zumba on! And it was a blast! I'll be out there again tomorrow heat or no heat! (I'd say rain or shine but let's face it; it is Southern California, we will more than likely not be seeing rain again until the Fall months).

The LA Kings Pre-Season Schedule is Calendared!

When my Thursday is completing by trying to track down a client who is past deadline on a couple of items, canceled stuff this week, then I get the mail... AND yup to top it off she is also late on her payment to me that was due BY today.

I see the sun however when I notice on social media that LA Kings Pre-Season schedule has been released. That means hockey season will resume soon enough!

And I look at the above picture of me and Anze Kopitar who was the player who I was so excited to finally get to meet at this year's Tip-a-King - that bring me a big smile too.

Go Kings Go!!!

Touched by Consideration

On Saturday we attended a baby shower for our friend Vicki and her husband Josh. Typically when I attend any outing I am prepared with the thought that I should eat before or will grab something on my way home as most people don't think (or remember) there will be vegan in the house. Well, Vicki did. And I can't even tell you how beyond touched I was by her thought and her consideration. This was a day to celebrate her and Josh's soon to be born baby girl. And here she remembered there'd be a vegan (there were actually a few of us vegan peeps there believe it or not) in attendance so she had Vegan patties AND vegan buns. And let me tell you - they were DELICIOUS!  Thank you so much, Vicki!!!!

Fruit Salad

The first post of my new blog.
This will be a place of a vegan smorgasbord of my thoughts, experiences, challenges, and whatever else I feel like sharing.

Today, I am going to keep it simple and just share my new favorite Young Living Essential Oil creation I like to call “Fruit Salad” since we are a week away from the Summer Solstice. It is 4 drops of each of these: Grapefruit, Tangerine, and Orange. Yum! If you try it, let me know what you think. And if you have any questions about essential oils always happy to share!
